Sea turtle's

 

For the past two weeks I have been working on a slide were you have to explain how living sea creature's are suited to their habitats. I have chosen sea turtle's.

This week my reading group have been reading a story called Celebrating Puanga at Ramanui the story is written by Maakere Edwards and Kiwa Hammond is about how people in Taranaki cannot see Matariki and look for another star called Puanga.

 Just like everyone else

This week my reading group have been reading a book called Just like everyone else written by Lona McNaughton. The story is about a girl called Zoe and she is deaf so she uses sign language to speak to other people. 

In the book her friends and Teachers learnt how to speak sign language and know they can have conversations in sign language with her.  What I found interesting about this book is that most people that are deaf speak sign language using their eyes and hands to speak to other people.

Some people that are deaf can not hear other people properly like Zoe. For most of the time when she’s in class. Zoe gets help from a special Teacher of the Deaf or a professional interpreter. But there’s also a roster of

students who interpret for Zoe when these people aren't at school. Deztinee started signing at the age of seven, when she first met Zoe at Saint Pius X School in Titahi bay. The girls walk to school every morning. On the way, they sign about all sorts of things: netball, school, Harry Potter, and their favourite songs. Although she was born Deaf, Zoe loves listening to music. She can feel the beat, and she follows the lyrics by watching sign language videos.

In conclusion I think that sign language is very important to the Deaf and other people that know how to sign a lot of words.

One city - Two earthquakes

 

This week my reading group have been reading a story called One city - Two earthquakes. The story was written by Jenna Tinkle. we had to make Two Google drawings about it. For the first one we had to make a survival kit in case of an earthquake. and the second one was about how do earthquakes occur.

Overdraft

 

We are leaning about overdraft and  we had to make a slide to show what we had learnt I had to work with Charlotte and Jessica. I would like to learn more about income and expenses.

Facts and timeline about the Kuaka.

This week my reading group have been reading an article called: 'Kuaka the marathon bird'. This story was written by Bronwen Wall. I learnt that the Kuaka have more than one name and that is 'Bar tailed godwits'. 

And the one below is also one that I have done this week. I had to describe the timeline of the Kuaka. And I done it with my buddies in my reading group.

 

D.L.O Measurement

 

I have been learning about measuring perimeter and area. I found that measuring big things was really hard. Next I want to learn how to convert it into smaller measurements.
